Wheels for October 7
by Denise Blanchard

Today, Emily Abbott our Rotary Youth Exchange 2009-2010 who went to Norway for the year shared her experiences and pictures with us. While abroad, Emily visited a number of countries including Germany, Sweden, Austria, Italy, France, Finland and England to name a few! While away, she learned to speak Norwegian, hike and cross country ski. She is glad to be back in Texas where people hug, look you in the eye and speak when they pass you on the street and all those other warm qualities Texans have! She saw the Northern Lights and knows that when someone says "Oh just wait" that things will get colder. She lived with several families while away and enjoyed her time with other youth in the Exchange program. Glad to have you back in the good ole USA!

Jeff Lester is now sporting a blue badge. Congratulations Jeff!

Our appreciation to Shara Hinchey for introducing Emily today and for serving as our Rotary Youth Exchange Counselor!

Dr. Jess Ghormley is back! We are so glad to see him back in the saddle again and in no time will be leading us in the Anthem once again. Please continue to keep Ed Fancher in your thoughts and prayers as he is in rehab in Beaumont. He continues to improve.

John Early shook us up by drawing for the jerky first. John Boyce was the proud recipient and Dorothy Puckett drew the ticket for the Rotary Foundation pot, but grabbed the 5 of diamonds. The Foundation pot is now over $600.

Thanks this week go to: David O'Dell who led us in the National Anthem and Pledge; David Walvoord, invocation; Peter Boyce, introduction of guests and visiting Rotarians; Dale Bippus and Jeff Neeley, greeters; Paige Carruth, ticket sales.
